A story that started with a pair of scissors.

Kennedy Katebalirwe Zziwa graduated from Makerere University with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science.
He, however, ditched his qualifications as a computer scientist to pursue his passion in the beauty world where he established himself as a hairstylist and barber.
After graduation, he started his first salon, situated in a remote trading center, although not far from the country's capital, Kampala. He charged less than a dollar per haircut. Getting by was hard under the circumstances, he flew out of Uganda and went to China where he found work in different salons before partnering with two friends to start his own in foreign land.
Yet he was thriving in China, working on VIPs and celebrities like NBA basketball player, Dwight Howard, he sold his shares in 2015 and returned home to Uganda where he launched HairbyZziwa, a salon that has since become a household name.
The salon has won several awards and recognitions as the best in Uganda.
In 2017, Zziwa launched the Zziwa Hair Academy to equip young people with skills in hairdressing, barbering and more. Early 2023, Zziwa was awarded the Vocational Service Award by Rotary of Kampala City. He was also nominated among the most influential Africans under 40 where he won a honorary award.
The academy has trained and mentored many young youths most of whom have turned into job creators, hiring other young people.
Around the same time, he established a haircare line under which he has five hair products; beard oil, scalp oil, shampoo, conditioner and leave-in. All products under the line are licensed and approved by the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS).
Today, Zziwa employs more than 50 young people through his different entities.
Zziwa is also an advocate against drug abuse under his foundation, Zziwa Kennedy Foundation. Through the foundation, Zziwa has helped create awareness about the dangers of drug abuse, and he offers vocational training to recovering drug addicts.
His work has gained him recognition in his country. He has been featured in various newspapers such as The New Vision, The Kampala Sun, Daily Monitor and also appeared on TVs. When the spotlight is on him, Zziwa doesn't only talk about his beautification work, he is an advocate against drug abuse having suffered with the vice himself for years.
